announcement..pls read
Hey guys. I’ve been thinking. How about having an online magazine kind of thing. A way for our voices to be heared by a wider audience. By we I mean us Maldivian Bloggers. It’s not like we are going to get paid. It’s just for the fun of it yeah? We have lots of free time on our hands, I can see that by looking at you guys blogs. It can have anything you know
- Current News
- Stories
- Games
- Tech
- TV
- Flickr stuff (like say best pics of the month kinda thing)
- Sports
- Music
- Your thoughts about any random topic
- Comics
- You name it
It can come out once a month and I think this could become pretty popular since I don’t think there is an online Maldivian magazine yet. So why not? Just a thought. Let me know what you guys think. Cheers.

also how about a section on blogosphere n post article of the month.. or top 10 blog posts of the month… sumthin like that….
this has the potential to become sumthin reeeaaaallly gud if u can get some quality help (volunteers)…

if you are going to release it once a month, i think all the ‘news’ would be outdated and publishing them would be redundant. the reader satisfaction/interest to author effort ratio would be very low. but general articles and essays on those topics in a non news style would be a good idea. flickr stuff, tv, music, sports and heavy metal by nass. yup. it sound all good i think. and don’t forget a religion section too. hehe.

its a gud ideal..
instead of writing for the magazine, i think it would be better as nass says to select article from the blogs and post it on the magazine.. after all we are getting everything..
this would be easier for non-mvblog crowd.

this is great idea.. maldivian bloggers magazine some thing which will have more stuffs to cover the blogging action so i guess a kool idea .. how abt creating a blog or a website where users can submit articles to the board we can all arrange some duties one will be an editor or 2.. and i suppose rather than a month we could update it weekly wise… I could give a hand soon hopefully after o levels… more over we could keep it openly any one can submit article but will need some moderation thats also possible… count me in

nass: yeah this has lots of potential just needs volunteers. and the sports section is yours…and you can have a heavy-metal section as well if you want
and yeah we can have best 5-10 blog posts of the month kind of thing.
coward: yeah your right news would be redundant…so scratch that yeah…we’ll go with essay type articles and latest music tv show games and stuff reviews..lets just leave religion out..different people have different opinions and we don’t want to cause any trouble now do we
frozen solid: actually what most people blog about are their lives yeah? not much about any entertainment stuff …there are some few good articles only…so if you got free time on your hands…just volunteer..
aFu: yeah that would be cool as well..can also be independent from the magazine…because what i’m thinking is downloadable interactive content from the web that the user can view on their computer…so it would take like a month to compile them right…like how magazines come out monthly..

i dont think weekly we can maintain this, if we dont work at a same place on this. i would prefer monthly.
and mail, i can help in the layouts graphics and designing of the magazine.

why not publish it every two weeks? Weekly is goin to be tough, monthly… well.. some stuff maybe outdated… but two weeks maybe ok i think… jsut a thought.
also, how about the technical stuff… like are we going to register a domain or use a free service like WordPress… maybe we cud have a test run on a free service n if it goes well, get a domain?
lot of ideas are there, but we still need to hear from some more folks… need to advertise this a bit

blogged: cool…your up…if you have some free time…try to make a sample layout…i’ll do my best to make this happen..so your work won’t be in vain
nass: yeah we can do it twice a week as well…but let’s see how it goes yeah…lets do the first issue in a month..and see how it goes..
and nass my idea is to make the magazine downloadable with some interactive stuff added in pdf format…so yeah we would need to host the files dho…but do we need a website? thing is if we make website and the magazine is viewed there it makes the magazine more of a blog than a magazine…thats what i’m thinking…more like say ‘pc mag’ buttt downloadble…not in hard copy…soft copyy..and for advertising there is still facebook

ive always wanted to bring out a monthly or yearly magazine with the coolest blog posts and publish it. u know, sell it on the STREETS! so if this this works maybe we can think about actually selling it for the non internet ppl maybe??

i think this is why we need a club or association kinda thing.. y dont we initiate in making a “maldivian bloggers association”. so that we can elect ember for the association as well as make a magazine commitee who will carry out the magazine work.. this way it will be better organized.. who knows maybe later we can go for soft copy too..

frozen solid: this will be better organized…when we decide on what we are going to do…there are difference opinions regarding what the magazine must contain…mvblogsphere bloggers do not post any relevant materials that are good enough for a magazine..it’s mostly about their own life…there are very few good posters like simon about a topic…now if we make a magazine about what we write for our blogs it’s not going to sell…everybody would have already read it…by everybody i mean most of bloggers…it has to be original material and yeah we could include best blog posts of the month if you guys want it..
